“Best new seafood product 2004” – New Zealand Hospitality Magazine

Home enthusiasts as well as professionals have been letting us know how much they enjoy our products.

HFG reader George Merton loves Omega Seafood Cooked Gourmet Mussels. He writes, "These are so easy and convenient since they're already cooked, and are great quality. A must buy for barbecue season."
- New Zealand Healthy Food Guide, November 2008

Interesting facts as to why Omega is best:

  • The shelf life on Omega mussels is 12 months sealed in the chiller versus 4 days for fresh.
  • Omega mussels are available all year round versus fresh which are sometimes impossible to source at holiday time.
  • You have the added bonus of Omega mussels being cooked for you, with the by-product of the juice. The cooking is optimal and consistent versus mess and the risk of junior chefs over cooking.
  • Size of Omega mussels is uniform, and is versatile versus fresh which are often irregular in size.
  • Omega mussels are sealed and then cooked to retain juices and the mussels are pre cleaned and checked for damage, versus fresh where “it can be hit and miss" with the quality and visual appeal. This costs you time and money.

Catering Convenience
"I like using Omega clams (and mussels) for the convenience, especially in an out catering operation, they save me time in labour (cleaning and cooking), they take up space for transit and storage, they are a clean product to use with very little smell. I open a packet at a time so I can control my food cost especially at larger functions as I only use what I need and keep the rest stored. Best of all they taste very fresh.”
- Will van Heeswyck, Food and Beverage Director, Continental

Restaurants, Café & Bars
"Omega mussels and clams are easy, food safe and make good profits. They taste great and are a brilliant food match for Guinness."
- Alastair & Liz Hawthorne, Seamus's Irish Nook, Picton

"Omega Mussels are a popular choice with our international and local visitors to savour with a glass of sauvignon blanc while looking out to the Richmond ranges."
- Shelly Witchell, owner of Shelly's Food For Friends, The Vines Village 193 Rapaura Rd, Blenheim.

“Omega Mussels are quick, easy and convenient but also an exceptional product,”
says Wayne Jones, owner of Bully Hayes restaurant in Akaroa. He sells Omega Mussels by the ½ Kg or Kg and clearly enjoys the ‘low risk’high margin he is able to make.

We have been using this product ever since it came on to the market and it is great because all the staff can prepare and send the mussels out to the dining room when we are busy.

Industry Magazines
"Every now and then a product comes along that makes you really take notice"

The mussels looked, tasted and smelt almost like they had come straight from the sea. If I was served these mussels, I don’t think I would question their freshness... and I have cooked a lot of fresh mussels in my time. My guess is that this product will enjoy a great deal of success
